Dr. Monamie Ghatak, DDS
Merrifield Pediatric Dentistry is a woman-owned local small business that started out based on Dr. Ghatak’s experience as a dentist and mother. Dr. Ghatak has personally lived the challenges that most parents face in providing the best for their children given the limitations of modern life. She understands that each child is unique and likewise each parent has different preferences. This has led to her vision of a pediatric dental practice where every child’s treatment is customized to them.

The staff and Dr. Ghatak were extremely friendly and the office atmosphere is super fun, so much so that my kids didn't want to leave! I especially appreciated how accommodating they were and even though it was past their closing time, the doctor and her team took their time in doing the exam, cleaning and discussing the results. We are new to the area, and are happy to report our experience at Merrifield Pediatric Dentistry was wonderful! From my young child age 5 to my older adolescent age 16, Dr Ghatak's expertise was evident for all 5 of my children. She has a great bedside manner and I appreciated the detailed care she gave to each child. The new office is clean and bright, and my children enjoyed the PlayStation in the waiting room while they took turns for the routine checkups. New patient check in paperwork on the iPad was a little cumbersome, but the care we received was excellent. Both our hygienist and Dr. Ghatak were caring, patient, and knowledgeable. Dr. Ghatak did a thorough assessment of my 3yr old son and listened to my concerns and answered my questions. Her recommendations were in the best interest of us, and not self-serving. The TV above the dentist chair was helpful and my son got a “prize” afterwards, so his experience was equally good. read less

Earlier this year, he had been at another practice for the same exact procedure, and my son was restrained in a papoose, given laughing gas, and physically held down by 3 adults. It surprised me that Dr. Ghatak managed to keep my son calm with nothing more than just laughing gas, and I realized that's how it should be. Less is better. read less

Dr. Ghatak and her staff were so great with all of my kids, ages 1 - 10. This was the first appointment for my 1-year-old and Dr. Ghatak was so great in handling him, that he didn't protest at all. Taking four kids to the dentist is often difficult, but this was the easiest time I've ever had. The toys, video games, tv, and professional staff made it seamless. I especially like that I could complete the intake forms online at my own convenience. I can't recommend Merrifield Pediatric Dentistry enough! read less

We've been bringing our five year-old to Merrifield Pediatric Dentistry since last year, and she was very excited to be going back today . . . until it came time to have a cavity filled. As usual, Dr. Ghatak introduced every tool to our daughter and let her hold them to raise her comfort level. But for a first time filling, there's going to be some anxiety and, yes, there were tears before our daughter even got into the chair. Dr Ghatak and her team gave us the TIME and quiet SPACE we needed to comfort our daughter and talk her back. It took us some time, but we never felt rushed or like we were inconveniencing them. Bottom line: Dr Ghatak got the job done without having to sedate my girl AND with no tears during the procedure itself. My daughter was happy again and saying she was ready to go back to the dentist before we had her buckled into the car. read less

This was my 18 month old son's very first dental appointment and after about 5 minutes of being nervous and clinging to my leg, he felt very comfortable in the waiting room and into the dental chair. The practice is very clean and colorful with a few toys for kids to play with in the waiting area. Dr. Monamie greeted my son with a very friendly smile and welcome that helped him feel comfortable and happy about being at the dentist. I too felt very comfortable and pleased with Dr. Monamie's bedside manner and how she taught my little boy to brush his teeth in a fun way! The toys in the waiting room relaxed him, and he is still talking about the TV on the ceiling above the chair. Everyone was so kind and patient. They had to scape his teeth a little due to staining and they gave him stickers throughout to keep him at ease and it worked wonders. They also figured out all our wacky insurance before we arrived so everyone knew what was covered and what we had to pay. Overall a fantastic experience!! read less
